The Celestial Landscape
The Celestial Landscape, my new exhibition at Mill Bridge Gallery opens 4th May to the 2nd June.
The Gallery is open Thursday, Friday and Saturdays 11-4pm
My new linocut and monoprints are a celebration of the beauty of the night sky, they look at the iconic areas of Yorkshire that are enhanced by the magnificence of the evening and the stunning impact of familiar silhouettes. Based in the North Yorkshire Dales, yet nationally regarded, her works are exhibited at the Royal Academy, Scottish Academy, Leeds City Art Gallery and collected all over the world.
“There is nowhere more beautiful or nothing more inspirational than the Yorkshire Dales at night! I love lying in tall grass on a summers evening staring at the dark skies, because there isn’t any light pollution the sky is so dark that the constellations light the view.”
This is a joint exhibition with sculptor Mark Butler, who’s sculptures take inspiration from old and new maps, the history of the landscape and the current usage of the area. Map tiles are modelled in a variety of media and incorporate found objects. These are then cast in bronze and set on a steel base.
